I, Michael James Rog, a resident of Harris County in the state of Texas, being of sound mind and disposing memory, publish and declare the following statement to be my Last Will and Testament.
I am grateful for the immeasurable love and grace given to me by my family and friends. I am hopeful that God's good, pleasing, and perfect will has been accomplished in part through me — a very imperfect vessel — by the power of the Holy Spirit working in my life and in the lives of those close to me.
To anyone who wonders regarding my faith and testament, I bear this witness:
I testify that Jesus Christ is the literal, living Son of our literal, living God. This Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer. I believe that He was born of a virgin mother, and that in His lifetime He performed mighty miracles observed by legions of His disciples and by His enemies as well.
I believe that He had power over death, because He was divine, but that He willingly subjected Himself to death for our sake and for a period of time was also mortal. By His willing submission to death He took upon Himself the sins of the world, paying an infinite price for every sorrow and sickness, every heartache and unhappiness, from Adam to the end of the world. In doing so He conquered both the grave physically and hell spiritually and set the human family free.
I believe that He was literally resurrected from the tomb and appeared, physically and repeatedly, to His disciples.
I believe that He is the Holy One of Israel, the Messiah who will one day come again in final glory to reign on earth as Lord of lords and King of kings.
I testify that there is no other name given under heaven whereby a man can be saved and that only by relying wholly upon His merits, mercy, and everlasting grace can we attain the promise of eternal life in the presence of God our Creator.
Finally, I offer this last admonition, according to the Scripture to which I myself have aspired:
Do justly, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.
Upon my death, I give: any needed organs or parts of my body, if medically acceptable, for the purpose of transplantation, therapy, medical research, or education; my body for anatomical study if needed.
I would have my body disposed of with as little expense or ceremony as may be. Any remainder or residue of my body which is not needed or acceptable as an anatomical gift shall be burned to ash and distributed upon the earth by my parents, Debra and Jerome Rog, at whatever location and by whatever means they desire. If both my parents have predeceased me, then the same shall be carried out by my Executors.
I desire that my life be celebrated in a calm, concise, Eucharistic gathering. I desire that any music at such a gathering be provided by live (not recorded or reproduced) musicians and on acoustic (not synthesized) instruments. Furthermore, I will that cherry- and peach-flavoured Jell-O be offered at any reception or other celebration given in conjunction with my funeral.
I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate as soon after my death as is practicable.
I am party to profit sharing agreements between myself and: Bryan Malone of EpicTutoring; Olivier Wenker of BioCode Academy. I hereby nullify those agreements and direct that my Will should be executed without collecting any future or uncollected profits resulting from those agreements, as if the agreements did not exist.
My monetary assets are held:
I own one vehicle: a 2017 Subaru Forester, registered in the State of Texas.
To my knowledge, I do not posses any other capital assets. Specifically, to my knowledge, I do not own any bonds, entitlements, or life insurance policies. To my knowledge, I am not personally party to any trusts, copyrights, or patents.
I own one business: Michael Rog & Partners LLC, registered in the State of Texas, which:
My "digital property" includes but is not limited to computer(s), supporting devices, all media for electronic storage, websites, domain names, files and programs on servers, server access, usernames and passwords, emails, hard drives, and digital files of all formats.
The majority of my digital property is held on:
My domain names are registered and administered by GoDaddy, NameCheap, and Cloudflare.
Files, materials, and domain names belonging to clients or relating to projects I have undertaken in service to clients should be released to those clients.
I desire that my ExpressionEngine add-ons (GitHub) and CraftCMS plugins (GitHub) — as well as any other materials which I have already released to the public domain — be made free and open-source, released under a Creative Commons Attribution license if possible, and published publicly so that they will be available widely and for as long as they may be useful.
I desire that poopbutts.com be retained by Robert Brett Arnold, maintained by him as he deems fitting, and utilized to its highest potential.
My personal domain names — michaelrog.com and rog.io — may be retained in and by my estate as necessary for the purposes of providing information about me and my work after my death.
The usernames, passwords, and credentials for all of these are held in an encrypted digital vault, managed by 1Password, stored both on my personal computer and in my Dropbox account. Access to this vault is described in a printed codicil to this Will, which is located in my parents' home and shall be surrendered by them only upon my death. My colleague Aaron Waldon also possesses access to much of my digital property and has generously made himself available to assist my family and Executor(s) in the proper handling of these affects.
Following and in deference to the execution of the aforementioned provisions, my computers, hard drives, and other media for digital storage, and all the files and materials contained by them, and indeed the entire residue and remainder of my digital property, shall be destroyed, as soon after my death as is practicable, by the most complete and irreversible means available.
My debts and legacies being all satisfied and paid, the rest and residue of all my estate, real and personal, now owned or hereafter acquired by me, not herein expressly disposed of, I give and bequeath to my brother, Colin Joseph Rog.
As regards the disposing of my possessions and assets, I ask Colin to give consideration to: our parents; my friends Schuyler, Hannah, Marianne, Ronnie, Brett, Austin, Robbie & Dana, Justin & Thea, Leslie, and Aaron; our family in Poland.
In the event that Colin fails to survive me by forty-two days, then this Will shall take effect as if he had predeceased me, and the rest and residue of all my estate shall be liquidated and donated to charity. Capital gifts and donations shall be in honor of my parents wherever applicable.
I request my trusted confidants, Robert Brett Arnold, Austin Anderson, and Colin Joseph Rog, to be the Executors of my Will, and I hereby nominate and appoint them for that purpose. In the event that all of them are unable or for any reason decline to serve as Executors of my Will, an appointee of the State may serve as Executor. My Executor(s) shall serve without requirement of any bond or surety. I waive any requirement for preparing or filing any inventory, accounting, or appraisal of my estate. I grant my Executor(s) power to interpret my Will and to incur any expense or obligation that may be necessary for its proper execution.
I revoke all former wills and declare this only to be my last. I provide it as my free and voluntary act for the purposes expressed herein, this Twenty-Eighth day of October in the year 2017.
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill to all people.
